      Samsung's 1st Mid Segment 5G Device Galaxy M42 Arriving In India

Samsung is set to launch the first mid-segment 5G smartphone Galaxy M42 in the Indian market. The smartphone will launch this month. It can cost between 20 to 25 thousand rupees. This is the company's first 5G smartphone in the M series.


An industry source said the M42 could come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G processor with 6GB and 8GB of RAM. It will also get Knox Security. This is the first M series smartphone equipped with this security. Knox offers multi-level security to the phone. It protects the phone's sensitive data from malware and malicious threats.


This year the company's focus is on 5G phones

The Galaxy M42 5G will be sold on the official websites of Amazon India and Samsung. The company may launch several 5G smartphones in the premium segment this year. The company’s most premium smartphone Galaxy Z Fold 2 will also come with 5G connectivity. So 3 variants of Galaxy S21 will also support 5G. The company has also launched a 5G variant of the Galaxy S20 in India.


Possible features of Galaxy M42 5G


According to data leaked by Tipster Abhishek Yadav and other sources, the phone will have a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED Infinity U waterdrop notch display. The phone will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G processor. It will have a 5000mAh battery, which will support 15 watts fast charging.

The smartphone has a quad rear camera setup. It will have a 48MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 5MP depth sensor, and a 5MP macro lens. It will have a 20MP camera for selfies. The phone will have an in-display fingerprint sensor for security.

For connectivity, it will have 5G, 4G LTE, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and USB Type C port. The smartphone will run on OneUI operating system with Android 11. The dimensions of the phone will be 75.9mm x 164.4mm x 8.6mm and the weight will be 190 grams.


The cheapest 5G smartphone in the Indian market

The price of the Samsung Galaxy M42 5G is yet to be revealed, though according to the report, its price may be less than Rs 25,000. This may be Samsung's cheapest smartphone but there are many affordable 5G smartphones of Chinese brand available in India.

The Galaxy M42 5G will compete with this phone

According to reports, Samsung's upcoming phone will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G processor. Moto G 5G and Mi 10i 5G equipped with the same processor are already available in India. It is priced at Rs 20,999 and Rs 21,999 respectively. In Teva, Samsung will have to keep the price of its phones around these two smartphones. Or the quality of the camera, battery, and display will have to be enhanced.


Demand for 5G phones in India

5G service has not yet been launched in India. However, 5G smartphones of many companies are available in the market. According to Counterpoint's research, the fall in the price of 5G ready phones could lead to 3.80 crores of 5G phones in India this year. This figure is 9 times higher than last year and is 21% of the total market. In the third quarter of 2020, there were 1.7 million such calls in India. By the end of 2020, the figure had crossed 40 lakh.


OnePlus market share 58%

Chinese company OnePlus has been the largest contributor to the 5G smartphone segment in 2020. It has a 58% market share in India. So Apple has 20% market share. It includes the iPhone 12 series. Realm has launched its X7 series in India. The company aims to become a leader in the 5G segment in India.
