Google has launched a stack app that scans documents, will also organize files automatically.

Scanned documents from this app can be saved on Google Drive

It will have fingerprint and facelock feature for security

Google's in-house incubator 'Area 120' has launched the Google Stack app. The Stack app allows users to scan and organize their own documents. This app will work just like Camscanner and Microsoft Lens. The Documents Scanner app uses Google's DocAI. Currently available for Android users in the US.

The company did not say when users in other countries would benefit. The founder of Stack said that the app is in the first stage of development.

The idea came from a high school student project

Google has announced about this app in its blog. "My education start-up, Socrates, was acquired at the time I joined Google a few years ago," said Christopher Pedregle, Stack's team leader. In Socrates we used Google's computer vision and language understanding for high school students. I felt that the same kind of technology could be used to organize documents.

The App Will scan documents in PDF format

Pedregle explained how the application would scan bills, documents and receipts in PDF and automatically name the file stack. The application will quickly scan documents. The application will display important information like total amount or date at the top. Users can use Face or Fingerprint Scanner for the security of the app. Scanned documents from this app can be saved on Google Drive.
