One-third of the cars produced in India are made in Gujarat. The country produces 36 lakh cars annually out of which about 12 lakh vehicles are manufactured in Gujarat. Now that the central government has announced the Vehicle Scrappage Policy and the way Gujarat has implemented it, the state will now become the 'Mokshadham' of cars across the country. With the announcement of the policy, the Gujarat government has entered into agreements with 6 companies for the recycling of vehicles and it is estimated that these companies will recycle more than 3 lakh car scraps.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced a new vehicle scrappage policy in Gujarat. At the investor summit held at the time of the announcement of the policy, seven companies, including Tata Motors and Mahindra Re-Cycling, had signed MoUs for vehicle recycling. Of these, 6 MOUs were signed with the Government of Gujarat while one agreement was signed with the Government of Assam.

More than 3 lakh vehicles will be recycled annually in Gujarat

Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister MK Das said that under the agreement signed by 6 companies with the Gujarat government, the state will have the capacity to recycle more than 3 lakh vehicles annually in the coming days. It will also provide employment to an estimated 5,000 people. Gujarat is an excellent place to invest as Gujarat has various facilities like roads, roads, water, electricity, gas, railways, transport.

Tata Motors will set up a scraping center in Ahmedabad

"As part of the investment promotion activity, we have entered into an agreement with the Gujarat government to set up a vehicle scrapping facility in Ahmedabad," said Girish Vagh, Executive Director, Tata Motors, and President, Commercial Business. The scrap center will be able to recycle 36000 passengers and commercial vehicles annually. The scrappage policy is a welcome step and a step in the right direction to promote safe and clean vehicles in India. As a responsible corporate, Tata Motors is committed to a sustainable future and looks forward to supporting this initiative through this partnership with the Government of Gujarat.

Strong ecosystem of scrap and recycling of vehicles in the state

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said that the second largest ship recycling yard in the world is also functioning at Alang where scrap and recycling facilities of vehicles are already available and there is a complete ecosystem for this. The Department of Transport will play a leading role in the successful implementation of this policy as Gujarat seeks to take advantage of the existing ecosystem and attract investment to develop and set up registered vehicle scrapping facilities and automated fitness centers. Due to today's event, Gujarat will also become the leading state in India in the implementation of vehicle skipping policy.

Gujarat will wait for the country to scrap vehicles

Vijay Rupani said that Gujarat is the largest automobile hub in India which has resulted in many big companies like Tata, Ford, Honda, Suzuki, and many other big manufacturing companies in Gujarat. The growing development of the state has resulted in a huge increase in the presence of large automotive manufacturers as well as the number of vehicles registered in the state. For this, our government will definitely come forward and wait for the country.

The policy will encourage investment

Venkataram Mamilapalle, CEO and Managing Director, Renault India, said such a policy was long overdue. The new scrappage policy will support the automobile industry and the ancillary industry which will be beneficial for all. This structure will encourage more investments and significantly reduce the cost of raw materials. The scrappage policy is an agave cure that will provide a decent opportunity to generate employment in the auto and allied industries and make the sector more organized.
