In the Gandhinagar cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Rupani gave directions to Transport Minister Faldu and Minister of State for Home Pradeep Singh.

State Government's decision to stop congestion in RTO, vehicle detention for violation of traffic rules

In the second wave of the ongoing Koro epidemic, the state government has taken a major decision to provide temporary relief to motorists. From now on, police across the state will not impose any penalty on motorists other than wearing masks. There will be no penalty by the police for violating other traffic rules. In the cabinet meeting held in Gandhinagar today, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has given directions to the state Transport Minister RC Faldu and Home Minister Pradeep Singh Jadeja in this regard.

Vehicles of traffic offenders will also not be taken into custody. Vehicles are detained for violating rules by the traffic police, causing heavy congestion at RTO offices across the state. This also increases the risk of coronary heart disease. Keeping in view the fact that it has been decided at present, it is the priority of the State Government not to gather crowds at any place.

Representation on the plight of two-wheeler detainees

Two-wheelers and four-wheelers are detained by the traffic police for violating traffic rules in the state. Drivers are fined between Rs 2,000 and Rs 8,000 on these detained vehicles. In addition, there has been an increase in the number of drivers arriving at the RTO office to release detained vehicles. This gave wide representation to the state government that there was a fear of spreading Corona on a large scale. It is believed that this decision has been taken after this.

Twenty-five employees of the Ahmedabad RTO office were put together

Yet on 16 April last week, 25 employees of the Ahmedabad Subhash Bridge RTO office were horrified when they were coronated together. Positive cases were also found in the Vastu RTO office. Employees including an inspector, an assistant inspector, and a clerk have been arrested. A large number of applicants visit the RTO office every day, so there is a fear of spreading the infection. Subsequently, all operations were carried out online at the RTO office.

A fine of 1000 rupees per person will be continued for not wearing the mask

However, the Chief Minister clarified in the meeting that whether it is a two-wheeler or a four-wheeler, other than the driver sitting in it, if the co-driver has not worn a mask, Rs. A fine of Rs 1000 will be imposed. Traffic police will also continue to charge fines without masks. However, the Chief Minister said that the objective behind this was not to replenish the treasury but to prevent the infection of Corona by raising awareness of masks.

In 6 months, people paid a fine of Rs 1.67 billion.

Masks have been mandated by the government to curb the transmission of Corona in the state and guidelines have also been issued in this regard. Accordingly, as per the High Court order, a fine of Rs 1000 has been fixed for those who do not wear masks. However, in the six months from August 2020 to January 2021, 16,87,922 people in the state violated state government guidelines by not wearing masks. As a result, the state government has imposed a fine of one billion 67 crore rupees.
